A user interface is not complete until the developers eat their own dog food (eating dog food - a phrase developers use to describe using a program they have built for someone else as a way to uncover cumbersome user interfaces)

Don’t ask the user to be a playwright. Instead, show them a quick pilot of the application. They can then lead you to the final solution.
